Benji, was standing on the front steps and smoking his cigarette, a bad habit, but he can't seem to stop. He was standing there looking over the school grounds and at the trees in the distant. He looked around and it was dead quiet, then again it was 7am he usually woke up this early if he had a bad dream about his ex girlfriend. The one that will always haunt him in his memories, it's hard to deal with, especially when no one knows what and how it all happened. He sighed as he let the cig hang in his hand, and then he decided to take a seat and took another drag. He was wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and some black motorcycle boots. He put his cig out and threw it in the garbage, making sure it was fully out before throwing it away. He sat there thinking about what has happened, and wishes he was able to talk to his dad. He really understood him, but like every other birthday his dad was gone, nice present isn't it? He ran his hand across his mouth as if to stop a certain emotion from coming out, he didn't even want that right now. But, his dream was.. so vivid, it was like, he was there and it happened all over again. He took out another and lit it up, and sat there trying to forget the dream and everything along with it. He inhaled deeply and exhaled slowly, he was more calm then when he woke up. He was relieved of that, he just wished those images wouldn't stick around. He was getting tired of it all, and just wanted to move on with this life of his. He looked down at the ground as he heard someone opening the door and he cleared his throat as he tried to act fine.

Madison stepped out of the school building, shielding her doe like brown eyes from the surprisingly bright morning sun with a hand. She blinked a few times, letting her eyes adjust to the difference in light. In contrast to the pure morning sun, the inside of the school had been dim and dingy. Not that it needed any comparison to seem that way. The young socialite would have described the school light as drab even if it was the complete opposite.
Unable to sleep, a problem that was more frequent these days than she’d care to admit, Madison had decided to beat the morning rush to the cafeteria. She’d left her dorm, slipping out quietly so as not to disturb her roommates a little before six thirty. Her discretion was owed more out to fear of the bear known as Skylar that she was forced to room with than any sort of consideration on her part. Her normally smooth and immaculately done hair had been hastily pulled into a pony tail, and she was still wearing the t-shirt and sweats she slept in. It was a rare time that she went anywhere less than perfect, but her suspicions had been correct, and aside from a sleepy looking freshman and the kitchen staff, she’d seen no one, so wasn’t overly concerned with her appearance.
She may not have been bright eyed or bushy tailed when she arrived in the near empty cafeteria, but she’d been awake, and had been able to enjoy her fruit and juice in relative peace. She looked down at her watch, it was only just past seven in the morning. Perfect timing. Skylar and Rina would be heading out to get breakfast themselves soon enough, leaving her alone for the few hours before class started to get ready and enjoy the time apart from everyone else. It was an odd mix of emotions for Madison, on one hand, she missed the constant hustle and companionship she’d had at home before coming to BAD, but she also missed the solitary moments she’d been able to grab. With two roommates, moments where there was no one else around were few and far between.
She started down the steps, stopping when she noticed for the first time a figure sitting at the bottom of them. Through a bit of a haze of cigarette smoke she recognized the form of her art teacher. He looked, well, if she was a honest, a little rough around the edges. More so than he usually did. She frowned slightly, part of her couldn’t be bothered, she wanted to get back to her room, get started on her hair, and all the other important things before starting another day at this hell hole. But, that being said, art was the only subject she was taking that didn’t bore her to tears. Which she supposed made him her favourite teacher by default. She stifled a bit of a sigh and walked down the last few steps, stopping out of the range of the smoke. It wouldn’t waste too much time to say hello. She arranged her features into a small smile “ Good morning Mr. Cormack, you’re out early.”

Benjamin inhaled quietly and ran his hand through his hair and then decided to take one last drag of the cig in his hand before he put it out, he did the same as before, making sure it was fully out and threw it in the garbage and turned to see the face that was staring at him, it was Madison, he formed a slight smile and said "Yeah, beautiful morning isn't it? Just wanted,... some quiet time before the day began" he lied. And then said "You're up early yourself, is there.. something wrong? Or do you, just usually get up this early?" he said being honest and not really knowing. He cleared his throat and leaned against the cement railing next to him putting his hands in his pockets and then said "Breakfast should be ready, wouldn't you want to be there... before everyone else? I know I always like being one of the first, my best friend--" he stopped for a moment not wanting to say his name continued through a shaky voice, it was all coming back to him, all at once, his best friend, his dad, and his ex girlfriend. He didn't know what to do or how to handle himself right now, he didn't want to start crying or look really upset in front of one of his students, so he tried to finish the best he could and said "We use to, um.. get breakfast early and play pranks on our teachers, before they arrived to the classroom.. of course everyone says that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but we never liked it much. We would ask the principal to open the door for us so we could finish a project before class began.." he said with a small smile and then realized he was rambling and she probably didn't want to know about any of this and then added "Shouldn't you be getting ready for class?" in a calm, and as normal as he could make his voice. Then out of habit, when he was upset grabbed out yet another cig and started on it, he grabbed out his sunglasses and put them on, he didn't want her to see his eyes, for they showed the most expression on his face. He stood there smoking it, inhaling and exhaling, and slightly breathing in the smoke he exhaled and then looked over at her as she was still there, he didn't want to be rude, because... that was just, rude. He just waited for her answer and wanted to know why she was still here. He bit his bottom lip a little he couldn't help feeling the way he felt, all this, that happened in his lifetime, before he was even 35, was a lot to take in. And do all alone. He took a deep breath and then decided to not ask anymore questions of Madison, and let her be. Unless she had something to say.

Madison would hardly call the morning beautiful. That would imply that something in this hell hole was even capable of beauty. Which of course to her, it wasn't. It was just a dank and dingy sunrise like every other one since she'd arrived at Blackwoods. “ Nothing is wrong. I just happened to wake up earlier than normal today.” she said with a small shrug. She'd barely gotten the response out before he was talking again. Oh great. He was telling her some weird story from his youth. Listening to a teacher reminisce about the glory days was certainly not in her top ten things to do, ever. She put a polite smile on her face, as much as she really couldn't care less about the pranks he used to pull as a teenager or whatever, she wasn't really looking to get on a teachers bad side for being rude.
She was paying more attention to his face than his words as he spoke. His story's about his youth may have bored her to tears, but Madison was always one who could appreciate a nice face. And though it was an old one, the art teacher was certainly something decent to look at. If only he were a few years younger. Probably was a heart throb at 16. She amused herself with that thought rather than listen to him prattle on. She tilted her head to the side, a small frown marring her face when he fumbled out another smoke and shaded his eyes with dark glasses. She'd caught a glimpse of something in his dark eyes before he hid them. A flash of pain. He hurriedly smoked for a few moments, not saying anything. It almost seemed like he'd forgotten she was standing there, caught up in his own little world.
He looked back to her, and chewed his lip. Now Madison was a lot of things, and being a bitch to pretty much the entire human population definitely rated high on her list. But she still had empathy. She wasn't sure what was wrong with the teacher, and had no way of knowing what the hell to do about it, even if she had known. But the little voice in the back of her head, an often mute conscience, was speaking up. A strand of hair had escaped her messy ponytail, and she awkwardly tucked it behind her ear. “I was on my way back to the dorms to do just that.... She trailed off, her frown still pronounced on her face “Um... are you doing ok Mr. Cormack?”

(For as long as I haven't replied I had just left him here smoking that cig for a loonng time, haha well thats how I feel anyways UGH, I'm sorry this is short, I'll add to it, I'm tired and can't think right now v.v)
Benjamin stood there, taking a few more drags of his cigarette, and inhaled slowly and then answered "Yeah.. everything's fine. You don't need to know my personal problems or anything like that.. you seemed a bit uninterested in my little story earlier anyways" he said and then took another drag, he didn't know what else to say. He didn't even know if this was going to drag out any longer, he didn't want to make her feel awkward, or obligated to stay, so he added "You, should head inside now... see you in class" as he leaned against the cement and decided to take a seat along side it, and ran his hand through his hair and sighed to himself, he looked up at her still there, looking as if she were about to leave. He looked at the ground and took one last drag of his cigarette and then put it out and into the garbage.
