In the six months that had passed Gage and Riley had gotten pretty serious. He found that he was quite happy with her. He liked the way she thought. He enjoyed their conversations amongst other things. And she was good with his son. Even though at the moment he didn't get to see him a lot. But they'd changed dorms around so now they were living together on campus. He'd been a little nervous in asking her to move in with him. He knew her last serious relationship didn't work out and he knew that kind of stuff had an effect on people. But here they were. Living together, happily.
He laid in bed holding her. A saturday morning. Bless saturdays when you could just do nothing. He just watched her sleep. He couldn't help it. She was so beautiful while she slept. He found he liked to get up early and just watch her. Probably a little creepy but you couldn't blame him. Not with a face like hers sleeping next to him. He moved slightly and let his lips touch her cheek close to her ear. What better way to wake up after sleeping in? He couldn't think of anything. "Wake up sleeping beauty" He smiled some more letting his lips trail her jawline. Hopefully she'd wake up and move so that she was facing him so he could kiss her.

Riley had fallen asleep happy. Not that it was all that surprising, Riley was normally fairly happy all the time, but if you could put a value on how happy someone was, she was at the top end of the spectrum. She would readily admit that it was in large part due to the man falling asleep next to her. Riley had been a little hesitant on her initial attraction to Gage. The instant physical attraction had been undeniable, and the more emotional connection that grew the more she got to know him was strong. But despite an always present optimism, Charles had left her a little damaged in terms of her love life. So she'd been cautious with Gage, not wanting to throw herself in head first only to be hurt again. But deep down, she'd decided from the get go that this was different, that he was different. In the six months that had passed, Riley felt like she had finally found that picture perfect relationship, the one that she'd been looking for with Charles, the one that her parents had. Sure, when she'd thought about it when she was younger, she never imagined the prince charming would already have a child, but after meeting Ryan for the first time, she'd pretty much fallen completely in love with the boy. And when her and Gage arranged to share rooming at the school, well it just seemed to put the cherry on top of the cake. So, not only had she fallen asleep happy, she'd fallen asleep happier than she really ever thought she could, something that she got to experience night and night now.
Riley slowly woke up, feeling the light soft pressure of Gage's lips on her skin. Her lips slowly curled into a smile. Best way to fall asleep, and by far the best way to wake up. She blinked her eyes open, and twisted herself around, finding herself looking into those deep blue eyes of his, and her smile grew. How could he manage to wake up looking just as perfect as he had the night before. “Morning she said, her voice still muffled with sleep .

Gage smiled down at her when her eyes were looking into his. With Jane he thought he'd been in love. But laying here with Riley, he knew now he'd been wrong. Cause Riley .. She was the one for him. She was quirky and full of smiles and always positive. He liked that. There was no .. we can't do this, or your not good at that. Or because you did this you won't have this in life. It was always .. keep trying you'll do better. And she deserved to be happy. Could he be the one to make her happy? Well that was still being evaluated. So far so good though.
He leaned down and kissed her gently. Then pulled away after a few moments. "How'd you sleep?" A question she's surely heard before but that didn't mean he didn't care about the question. It was cause he cared that he asked it almost every morning they woke up. And a little routine never hurt anyone. Though saturdays were never full of much routine, unless they were on some sort of duty. Kids had to be watched even on saturdays. And yeah there were papers to grade and stuff but .. sometimes most of the day was theirs to do what the wanted to do.

Riley closed her eyes, kissing Gage back, her lips forming a small smile against his. She couldn't not smile. Not when he was there. Not when he kissed her. It didn't matter that over the six months they'd been together, they'd shared a thousand kisses, each one still made her heart flutter quickly. One kiss from Gage was worth a million from Charles, or anyone else. There was something about him, something that was just right. It was more than just the obvious, she loved how he thought, how kind he was, how positive and caring. She loved how he was so devoted to his son, and his job, and music, how passionate he was, how strong of character... but there was something more, something that was just, well, just Gage.
Riley smiled as he pulled away and asked her how she slept. The fact that he did so every morning was one of her favourite moments of each day. One of a million little things he did that would make her smile. “Like a baby” she said, snuggling into his chest and letting her eyes close again. Riley loved Saturdays, especially ones like this, where neither of them really had any plans or responsibilities. Where they could do anything they wanted. She opened up her eyes, not wanting to drift off again and smiled “ Would I seem totally lazy if I just wanted to spend all day curled up in my Pjs? she said with a little laugh, purposely choosing to ignore the pile of marking that was sitting, waiting at her desk.

Gage liked knowing that she slept good. Means he wasn't loud or restless. Not that he'd ever been but it was nice to sort of know if you bothered someone you slept next to. Then she was speaking again. Ah yes spending the day curled up in pajamas. He loved days where they had nothing to do. Since they were almost constantly busy. Sure they still had papers to grade but they'd wait. Teachers needed a break too. He smiled at her and tightened his grip around her.
"Only if I am. But how about .. curled up in less than your pjs?" He figured he'd throw that option out there too. "Or we could go into town, we don't do that very often. But ultimately the choice is yours" Gage was up for anything. He liked taking Riley out and having fun with her. She was definitely good company to keep. He didn't know how for a second she was single when he'd met her or why she'd even agreed to go out on a date with him but since she had he wasn't going to let her go.

Riley couldn't help but smile at his suggestions. Granted, town sounded like fun and all, they rarely had enough time to go out, catch a movie, get dinner, you know, normal date things. It was always nice when they actually could get off campus for a little while. And she couldn't deny, she loved going out with him. They always managed to have a fun time, and there was the added bonus that she got to show him off. She wasn't really sure why she was so lucky. At the beginning of the year, she never would have said she was lucky in love, not after the Charles debacle. But when she met Gage, she felt like she was. The whole thing with Charles had a purpose, because if it hadn't happened, she wouldn't have come to this school, wouldn't have met the man laying next to her, and that would have been horrible, because she'd never felt this happy and content in her life. The point was though, be that as it may, the 'less than Pjs' thing was a hard suggestion to ignore.
She leaned up, pressing her lips to his again. “ Less than Pjs sounds pretty good to me too... though it hardly seems fair, you throw that out there, I'm probably not going to choose anything else.” she said with a smile and a light chuckle. “ I suppose we can do a little of both though, it's still early enough in the day” she grinned

Gage was glad that he'd lost his job at the last school. Laying here now .. it was the best mistake he'd ever made. He was closer to his son and he'd met this wonderful woman who he couldn't imagine not waking up to every morning. She made him feel important and good about the kind of man he was. And even though he didn't have custody of his son, she told him he was a good father. Maybe one day he'd have a life fit to have some custody of Ryan. It would be really nice. Maybe a home in town and a stable family, those kinds of things are what judges like to hear and see.
Then her lips were on his for a moment. Then she was speaking and he couldn't help but smile. Ok so he did have one thing in mind when suggesting less than pj's. He liked feeling close to Riley though. She was the woman for him he thought. There was nothing more meant to be in his entire world. He let his hands pull her body closer to him. "See you're so smart. This is one of the many reasons why I love you .. yes we can do both" He smiled some then let his lips touch hers again.

Riley let him pull her close, the feeling of being against his body, with his arms around her was one of the best things she could imagine, she felt safe and loved with this man, and though she couldn’t see into the future, didn’t know where they were going, or how things would turn out, she knew that right now, it was where she was supposed to be, without a doubt. She couldn’t help the smile on her face, or the swell in her heart when he spoke. Sure, she’d heard him say he loved her before, and unless something went wrong, this would hardly be the last time she heard it. But it didn’t stop her from being ridiculously happy every time she heard those words come from his mouth.
She let her hands run up into his hair, pulling his face closer to hers as she kissed him back, her teeth grazing against his lips. If there was a better start to the day, she didn’t know what it was. Riley was hardly some deranged S*x kitten who needed it all day every day, she was no different than anyone else in that regard. Charles had always made her feel like there was something wrong with her when she made any advances, and more so if it wasn’t at night, in bed, before sleep. He would have looked at her like she was crazy had she tried to initiate anything first thing in the morning. Yet another reason Gage was ahead on her ever growing list of reasons he was far superior to her previous relationship. She pulled her mouth from his a moment later, a smile on her face as she looked into his eyes. “ I love you Gage, just, you know, throwing it out there.”
