AVALON AUTUMN MILLER
All along the western front
People line up to receive
She got the power in her hand
To shock you like you won't believe
Saw her in the amazon
With the voltage running through her skin
Standing there with nothing on
She gonna teach me how to swim

Hello. I'll be interviewing you today. Can you tell me your name, maybe a little bit about yourself?
Um, hi. I'm Avalon Miller, but most people call me Avvie. I'm sixteen, and I'm from Chicago. I don't know what else to tell you. There isn't much to know about me.
That's a lovely name. Why don't you tell me about the people that named you, your parents? And what about the rest of your family and people close to you, tell me about them.
My parents died when I was six. After that, my sister and I went to live with our grandpa. Papa Steve. He was really cool... He got sick, two years ago, and died. The doctor's said it was because he was so old, he couldn't fight it off as well. My sister is my best friend. She's two years older than I am, and she's taken care of me since we lost our parents. She's the best person in the world. Besides Rora, I don't really have anyone else, not anymore.
Interesting... What about before Blackwood, how was your life?
Before we lost our parents, life was perfect. Mom and Dad were amazing. Then they were in an accident, and Rora and I were sent to live with Papa Steve. He was great. He took really good care of us. Well. He tried, at least. Sometimes, he didn't know what was going on, because he was really old and his eyes and ears weren't so good anymore. But we were safe. We had a place to sleep, and there was always food, even if it wasn't always very good. Then he got sick, and Rora and I were going to be split up and put into foster homes. Rora didn't want that to happen, so we ran away. We lived on the streets. Sometimes, we'd stay in abandoned buildings, or churches. We had to steal, sometimes, to pay for food and clothes when we needed them. She had her school books, from before we ran away. It wasn't easy for her, but she taught me things, so that when she turned eighteen, she could get custody of me and I would be at the right level for school. But then, we were stealing from a store. It was my fault. I'd needed new shoes. The ones I had were falling apart, and I tried to hide it from Rora, but she found out, so we had to go steal some. We couldn't afford to buy them, we didn't have any money. We got caught, though. That was my fault, too. I tripped when we were running away, and Rora stopped to help me. If I hadn't been so clumsy, we wouldn't be here. Rora's old enough now to get custody of me, and she'd just managed to get a job. Things were going to get better. And then I messed them up.
If you had to pick something, what's the worst and the best things your done in your life?
I don't know what the best thing would be... Well, maybe when I won the spelling bee in seventh grade? Papa Steve and Rora were both really proud of me. The worst, that's easy. Getting caught. That was rule number one, and I broke it. And now, Rora's here, and I ruined everything for her.
What made you come to Blackwood?
We were caught stealing from a store. I guess someone felt bad for us, because we didn't have anyone, and we were living on the streets. They decided to send us here, because they thought we were good. I'm just glad it's not jail. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I got us sent to jail.
Okay, and last question I promise, do like how your life has turned out?
Not really... I've messed things up a lot.
