GABRIELDYLANMONROE
“Why the Blackwood Academy for Delinquents? Why do you want to work with troubled youth?”
I chose to apply for this position because it was close to my home. I grew up in Adair, small town just a ways away from here, and it's nice to be back near my roots. As for troubled youth, well, if I can be frank, they have nothing to do with my decision to apply for this position. It was a job doing security. Security I'm good with. I couldn't care less if the psychos are adults or children. It's all the same to me. I'll do my job, and I'll do it well. Don't expect me to give any sympathy to these kids just because they have some sob story. A criminal is a criminal is a criminal. I'll make sure they stay straight, or regret if they step out of line.
“So you are applying for the Security opening here at the Blackwood Academy for Delinquents how long have you worked in that field? Why that job?..”
I've been in security of sorts since I was eighteen years old. Until six months ago, I was part of the US Marine Corps. My business was the security of the nation. I doubt there are many people more qualified than that. For the last six years, I was posted in Afghanistan and Iraq respectively. Part of my duties there were security detail at a POW internment center. I doubt these kids have much on that.
As to why I chose that line of work, well sir, it was my duty. My father was a military man, Navy SEALS, my grandfather a staff sergeant in the Army. It's in my blood.
“What can you offer the school?”
I have a unique experience in dealing with hostile individuals, am versed in numerous unarmed combat and restraint tactics. And, forgive my French, I won't take any shit from these kids. You won't find someone more qualified to ensure the safety of your staff or students.
“How do you think you present yourself to people?”
Again, pardon the expression, but I am only repeating what I've been told. People tend to see me as a hard ass, stick in the mud, asshole. I apparently give off a distinct “military” vibe. I don't quite know what that means. I assume that they mean I'm disciplined and serious. I've also been told I'm confrontational, and have no emotion, which stands to reason, given my job. Confrontation finds me, and overt displays of emotion will get you killed. I am tough. But I believe I'm fair. Don't 'eff with me, follow the rules, and we'll get along just fine. People seem to think I can't or won't unwind. I do. Just in my own time, and frankly, how I do that is no one's business but my own.
“Have you ever had any problems with the law? Why did you quit your last job?”
No sir. I have never had any trouble with the law as an adult. There was one incident when I was in school where some buddies and I stole a car and went for a joy ride. Since the car was my father's, no charges were pressed. Except that one blip, I have a spotless record.
I did not 'quit' my last job. You don't quit the Marines. After serving my country for fifteen years I was Honorably Discharged. Some bullshit reasoning about an injury I sustained while on tour. If it were up to me, I'd still be overseas.
Full name: Sergeant Gabriel Dylan Monroe
D.O.B. and Age: December 30. 34 Years old
How long have you been Security: 15 years... providing security for the US of A
Years at Blackwood: None. Beginning this year.
Health Issues: Possible Post Traumatic Stress Syndrom, though I think that's BS. Just a bunch of liberal whiners making excuses for themselves. I have some problems with the muscles in my back from time to time if I try to work them out to hard, or in certain weather. It's nothing debilitating though.
Other: Sergeant's insignia tattoo on left bicep over his unit's logo. Extensive scarring over his back and down the back of his thighs, the result of an IUD. This is the injury that got him discharged, it hurts a lot more than he will ever let on.
