When life hands you lemons you make lemonade. Not the case with Miss Lauren. Her life had been lemons since the day she found out she was adopted. She had tried to be good for her adopted parents but that all changed. It changed the moment she got into high school.
The once popular Theresa Lauren Gonza, had turned into the school slut, the school lie. No one liked her, no one cared for her. She went from being the star on the soccer team to finding herself stuck in detention, robbing from malls, and just all around forgetting who she was. In the process the Gonza's just did not know what to do with her.
Here she was arriving in the back of a police car, she had been just busted robbing a store. She had packed whatever she could. She had her weed hidden, a few other items she wanted to smoke off. She figured the less they knew here at Blackwood the easier life would be.
It was when the cops left that she would get her moment to use the bathroom, to hide her stash. She figured she would have enough time to do all that.
She looked out the window. She really had to use the bathroom. "Hey do you mind, I have to go?" She said quickly. She really needed to do something other then stare at the cops in the front seat. "Do you freaking mind, I have to use the bathroom." She said even louder They did not listen to her but she just stared at there heads for a moment.
They finally stopped, and brought her into the administration hall. During that time. She managed to get to the bathroom. Where she hid some of her stash in an area no one would look. She really needed to get high.
She came back out and sat down. Her bags were sitting by a chair, and the cops were leaving. Hallelujah she was fine now.

Coffee in hand, Carmen had been walking into the main office, hoping to get files on any new students. She had heard there was going to be at least one, so she wanted to get a head start on reading through those. It wouldn't be as good as getting to talk to them, but she'd take what she could get. Seeing a girl sitting in the administration hall, Carmen smiled politely. She was either a new student, or one that another one of the psychiatrists treated. Going to collect the files, she decided to stop and introduce herself to the girl on her way back. If she was new, she could be one of Carmen's patients, and if not, she should know that there was always an open door if she needed help. Files in hand, she walked back into the hall, and smiled politely at the girl again, offering her free hand. "Hello, I'm Dr. Carmen Ortega, one of the psychiatrists here at Blackwood. I just wanted to introduce myself, and to let you know that if you ever need anything, the door to my office is always open." The girl seemed familiar, though Carmen felt ridiculous for thinking that. She'd never met this girl before, so how could she be familiar? It was just her imagination. She was bored, so it was acting up. (( Outfit!))

There was a women walking towards her. She looked towards the women as she made her way into the room. She lofted her brow up for a moment. Did they usually ignore all the students, new or not in the office. Again another lemon that had been handed to Lauren.
Lauren watched the women walking out of the room with paperwork in her hands. She could assume that the women worked there. Lauren looked at the Dr. now. "Carmen?" She said with a nod. Though she had a friend named Carmen. She did not think she needed to offer respect to the women she barely knew. Lauren was just a bit misguided at this point. "I'm Lauren." At least she could start herself over again there.
Lauren looked at her. "I do not really know anyone here." She said with a sort shrug. "Just got here." She said. God she was craving for something.

Luckily, Carmen didn't mind one bit if students called her by her first name. Whatever made them more comfortable, really. It wasn't a huge deal to her, or an issue of respect. It was what they were comfortable with, what helped them talk to her. That was what mattered to her.
Smiling as the girl introduced herself as Lauren, she nodded. "Hello, Lauren." She sat in a chair beside the girl, nodding more as she said that she didn't know anyone here, and that she'd just got there. That was one question answered. Two, if you counted her name. "I was the same way when I first got here, four years ago. But you do know someone now... You know me. And you're going to share a dorm room with two other girls, so you'll get to know them too, soon."
Setting the files aside, she wove her fingers together, a pleasant smile still on her face. "And if you ever need help, whether it's just to meet someone new, or if someone is giving you trouble, my office is always open. I'm here to help you, Lauren, even if that's just by giving you a safe place to hide out if other kids are giving you trouble." She told most of the students that, and she meant it for every one of them.

She looked at Carmen once more. She could not help but to smile at her a bit more. Lauren smiled, "Hi." She tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. She could not help but to see the files sticking out beneath. "What do you do here?" She asked. She really wanted to know.
Lauren looked at her once more, "You work here, but you didn't like it here?" She asked.
She sighed a little bit more. She did not think that she needed this place. All she did was rob a store in the mall it was nothing to bad. "So what is up with this place?" She asked wanting the four one one, or the low down on Blackwood.
"No one will give me trouble." She said shaking her head. "If they know whats best for them."

Carmen felt a little relieved as Lauren smiled. There, that's what she was hoping for. "I'm a psychiatrist. I help students work through their problems, by being a sympathetic ear, a helping hand, and from time to time, I prescribe medication. That's my lest resort, but some students here genuinely need it." They were the only ones she prescribed medication to. If there wasn't something genuinely wrong, something that only medication could fix, she didn't prescribe it.
Shrugging, she offered a gentle smile. "It was a big change. I'd only worked with adults before coming here. It wasn't that I didn't like it, just that it was an adjustment I had to make."
Leaning back, resting her head against the wall, Carmen thought for a moment. "You probably know that it's a school for kids who have committed crimes. It's a high school, so if you see a small child running around, it's one of the staff members kids. There are four levels, though I'm not entirely familiar with separates the levels, besides severity of the crime. The students are all very different. There are dorms, and you'll be sharing a room with two other girls, from various levels and years. Male students and staff aren't allowed in the female dorms for any reason, and vice versa. I'm not sure what else there is to tell you, unless you want gossip. If that's the case, I'm not the person for that. Doctor-patient confidentiality has my lips sealed." Though, as psychiatrist, she did end up knowing quite a few bits of juicy gossip. She would never betray the confidence of her patients, though.
A soft laugh escaped Carmen, and she quickly covered her mouth. "Lauren, as much as I wish that were true, I'm afraid it's not. Many of the students here aren't going to be afraid of you, even if you'd hope so. Though, I can tell you that if you came to me with any concerns, I would quickly make sure those students stopped bothering you."

Generally Lauren zoned out a bit when adults talked. There was something a bit different perhaps a bit off about her newest adult friend. Lauren just sort of rolled her eyes when she told her that she was a psychiatrist. "Oh one of 'them.'' She quoted to bring an emphasis to what the women had just said. "So you deal with someone and tell what's screwing with there heads, is that it." She smirked. Lauren did not care
She rolled her eyes a little bit. "Okay." She said with a small shrug. She really did not care for her. She felt like the women was wasting her time.
"I sort of figured that, seen as I got sent here by the juvenile systems back home. You would think I figured that out when I arrived here. You know I am smarter then I look." She heard about kids and she grimaced some. "Oh Joy, Staff Kids, just what I wanted to deal with. You get anything I can get high with?" Okay that was not the right question to ask a Staff member. This women was just bugging her.
"I do not care for gossip." She said with a smug look on her face. "Trust me I can handle my own, I will not be running to you." She said sharply. "Or anyone else for that matter." She was not some tattler. She would just fight for herself. "So are you done, shall I be taken to my cell now?"
