Pixel sat at her desk, her right leg was tucked up, the sole of her shoe was visible to everyone on the left side of her, revealing the familiar diamond shape from all Chuck Taylor converse, today she's opted for purple low tops, the white rubber strips around the shoes themselves had doodles on them, mostly stars. Besides her cons, she wore skinny jeans and a plain black t-shirt. Her earrings were the only other purple things she wore, and they were in the shape of cupcakes.
She was hunched over her desk, doodling in her notebook. The teacher was reading at their desk, having instructed everyone else to do the same. Pixel couldn't help but notice how most of the teachers at this school didn't care. Sure, some did, and those wanted to make a difference, but most saw the students as they saw themselves. Hopeless. Rejects. A Lost Cause. Pixel had thought this about herself and much more the last year, so she pretty much figured they had a reason to not care. They knew she was never going to change, and she knew it, it was just a matter of waiting it out until she got out of this place. Unlike most people at this school, Pixel didn't dislike the school, but Pixel really didn't care about it either.
Pixel sat up, yawning softly, reaching up and rubbing her eyes softly, feeling tired because she'd had a bad night. She often wondered how sleep could be so terrifying. She looked around the room, noting how few people were actually reading like they were suppose to, which made Pixel smile. She looked back at her page, and flipped it over, and began to draw on the back of it. Her left hand dragged across the page as she drew, spearing the ink a little bit and getting it on the back of her hand. Ah, the curse of being left-handed.

Anthony sat in class. He hated English. And he just couldn't seem to focus on the assignment he was supposed to be doing. That and he didn't much care. But his hands shook terribly so he didn't write anything and he didn't hold his book. He didn't really want people to think he was weak in this state. So he didn't let people see how his hands shook.
His nights had turned into days and he fought sleep for as long as possible. He hated what he saw when his eyes were closed. And it wasn't like he could sleep anyway. His body was in constant pain. His eyes watched the teacher sitting and reading at their desk. Some of the teachers here made him feel more worthless then he already thought of himself. Talk about being kicked when you're already feeling down. They had no idea what went on in lives like his, or the blonde girl sitting next to him. He didn't even have to know what she was here for, he knew she felt probably the same way he did.
So he went from watching the teacher to watching her draw. She seemed to enjoy it. Her name was Pixel he thought. He had heard it maybe once or twice. He'd never talked to her. He wore a dark blue long sleeved shirt and a pair of dark blue jeans with holes in the knees. It brought out the blue in his eyes. He silently just watched.

Pixel doodled for a few moments, then noticed the guy beside her watching her. Pixel didn't look at him, instead she wrote "Hey, what cha doin'?" on the paper in swirly, very girl, letters and put it where he could see better, then turned to him with a smile on her face. She didn't really know him, pretty much just his name, or at least she she though she did. It started with a A, so if all else failed, she'd just called him A.
She looked him over, because that's pretty much what she did every time she talked to someone for the first time. Partly because she was scared of half of the people in this school and it seemed to make him less scary, and mostly because she liked to see peoples styles, wanting to be a stylist. Her eyes fells on his jeans, wanting so bad to reach over and play with the frayed edges of the rip in the knee, because that's what she would do if she had jeans like that, but Pixel tended to throw anything that had a whole in it away, or she made something else out of it. She often thought of being a designer, too, but that didn't sound as fun as being a stylist. Oh yeah, Pixel really loves to live dangerously.

Anthony's eyes moved down to what the girl wrote on a piece of paper. Her hand writing was completely girlie. His eyes watched her for a moment while she looked him over. His eyes were reading her to see if she approved of what ever she was looking for. Mostly putting off a reply for as long as possible without making it look like he didn't want to answer her. Because he did but his hands were terrible at writing without the drugs in his system.
Finally he took in a deep breath and moved his shaky left hand and wrote on his note book. The letters were readable, but not the best. "Watching you draw .. you're pretty good at it" Then he put the pencil down and moved his hand from site. It all had to do with people's judgments. But his eyes continued to look at her. Occasionally looking to see if the teacher was paying attention to them.

Pixel read his note and nodded. She flipped another page, and started doodling again, making sure he could see it. She didn't say anything for a while, not really sure what to say really. She noticed his somewhat shaky hands, but she really wasn't sure what to make of them, or if she should ask him about them. She drew a giant start with a bunch of little starts in it, actually a tattoo she wanted to get if she actually ever got one, then went to drawing little animals like dogs, and tigers, and bunnies and just a lot of cute animals.
"We can talk if you want," Her voice was in a low whisper, and she looked up at the teacher to see if they heard her, then she looked at Anthony. "Just be very quiet... I'm Pixel Ann Conner, by the way." She gave him a warm smile, glanced up at the teacher again, then extended her hand for him to shake. No one else in the room was really paying that much attention to them. Pixel often wondered what would happen if she just stood up and left. Really, what would the teacher do? She could just say she needed to go to the bathroom or something, or just act like she was suddenly deaf and couldn't hear them. Though Pixel was to scared to do it, like she was with most things.

Anthony continued to watch her draw. She was at least entertaining. He then heard her whisper to him she said her name was Pixel. "Anthony" He kept his voice as low as hers. His eyes looked down to her hand she wanted a hand shake. Anthony reached out and shook it and then pulled his hand back. He could really use a cigarette. That would make his shaking less.
"So do you always ignore the teachers assignments?" His voice matched his previous tone. His eyes moved to the teacher for a moment then back to Pixel. She was at least good at what she was doing. Maybe she had found something that this school offered that she liked. Maybe even use to make a way in the world. Something that wasn't what ever got her sent here.

Pixel looked at the teacher when Anthony mention them. She paused for a moment, staring at the teacher. Finally she looked down at her desk, and she picked up the book they were suppose to be reading, and fanned through the yellowish pages. "I've actually already read it... I got bored last night." She set the book back down, and looked over at him. "Why aren't you reading it, Mr. Anthony?" She smiled at him again.
She flipped another page in her notebook and began to write his name, graffiti style. Pixel had never actually graffitied anything, she just knew how to draw the style. It was another one of those things that Pixel wanted to do, but she knew she never would. She even had a notebook back in her dorm that she'd started a bucket list in, but she was so scared to do anything on it, and she hated that she was that way.

Anthony looked at the book. Oddly enough he had read it too. He couldn't remember why. But he had. Teachers weren't really creative with their choice of books. "I've read it" His eyes went back to following her pencil. She was good at drawing. And he liked they way she was drawing his name. It looked good.
Anthony sat quiet for a moment. His eyes just staring at her paper. It was almost as if he were lost in his thoughts. Which he sort of was. She seemed cheery, full of smiles. Like she almost liked things about being here. "You suppose there's a way we can .. ditch class?" He'd sort of like to be able to talk to her above a whisper. He hated being stuck in class all day and then having homework. There was never any time to just .. be.

Pixel's head snapped up, and she stared at him. She wasn't that shocked, a lot of kids wanted to ditch class around here, she was more shocked that he wanted to to ditch class with her. Pixel didn't really have a lot of friends here, mostly because since she'd come here she'd receded into her shell like a turtle, and pretty much the only people she talked to were her dorm mates and teachers. Though she doubted that that actually counted.
She looked up at the clock, trying to read and do the math in her head about how long it was until the need of class and the beginning of her next one, but she gave up because she was failing at it. "Sure... But how?" She looked at him, looking like a confused puppy as she tilted her head to the side. "Are we just going to.. leave?" She glanced at the teacher, then back at him.

Anthony looked down thinking for a moment. He looked to the teacher. Still thinking. Then he looked back to Pixel. She looked so confused like she had never skipped class before. "Well ... The teacher is allowed to let two people leave class at a time to use the restroom .. Why can't it be us she lets go? .. Watch and repeat in about 5 minutes .. And I'll meet you there" He leaned back away from her so it wouldn't look like they were plotting when he got the teachers attention.
Then he raised his hand and cleared his throat loudly. Once he had the teachers attention. "I need to use the restroom." Once he got approval from the teacher, just a nod but all he needed, when they looked back down at the book he looked over to Pixel and winked a little. Giving her a daring smile. Then he stood up and left the room.
