The only kind I could really see working might be a ghost thing. Please no vampires/werewolves/etc though. No one can ever agree on how that's done.

I was thinking maybe a ghost thing actually. That would be the only real supernatural thing about it. Possible some one that has strange dreams about the whole missing student thing. That's really it.
