Gage silently walked to the auditorium with a guitar case in his hand. He knew around this time, none of these halls got any traffic. So he thought he'd test out the auditorium and see how it sounded to him. He also sorta liked the idea of a little quiet time. He liked to write and play music of his own. Another way he'd put himself through college. Once he got to the stage he turned on the light above the stage to just dim enough he could see his guitar and piece of paper and left the rest of the auditorium dark. Then he moved on stage. He got his guitar out and his pencile and paper. He then gently started playing his guitar. After a few minutes he started into the beginning of something he'd written. "When I left home to be who I am, some people said no way. But I laid it all down, gave everything. In my head rang the words that my father said. You're never far. I will be where you are and when you come to me, I will open my arms." His voice was steady and strong. And he knew how to project well.
"Welcome home you, I know you by name. How do ya do? I shine because of you today, So come and sit down. Tell me how you are. I know son, it's good just to see your face" He paused his words while he play the guitar more. He really enjoyed this song. It one of his better written ones. "When I look at you holding my heart, I will give to you all that I have. Son I know there'll be times you will feel all alone. I will share with you the words my father said. You're never far, I will be where you are and when you come to me .. You can bet I will open my arms. Welcome home you, I know you by name. How do ya do? I shine because of you today so come and sit down. Tell me how you are I know son its good just to see your face." He paused a moment to write on his paper the changes he had just made.

Riley walked down the empty hallway, her bag slung over her shoulder after classes had ended, on her way to cut through the yard to get to the dorms. The kids cleared out fairly quickly after the last bell, and the corridor was utterly silent except for the sharp click of her heels on the tiles. She was looking forward to kicking off her shoes and relaxing after a long day of classes. As she passed the closed doors to the auditorium, she paused, hearing the quiet, muffled sound of singing from inside. She sighed a little, must be a student practicing singing after school hours. She hated to interrupt, but it wasn't strictly allowed. And she'd rather be the one to tell them that than have them catch a detention when another teacher wandered past and heard them.
She opened the door quietly, not wanting to startle whoever was in there. She walked into the dark, smiling as she heard the voice more clearly, definitely talented. As she looked up to the stage, she squinted at the person standing under the single light, guitar in hand. Her smile widened as she recognized Gage. It really shouldn't surprise her that he was a talented singer, he was the music teacher after all. But logically assuming he'd be good, and actually hearing him, were quite different. As though he needed something else to set him up higher than most men.
She felt a little guilty, like she was intruding on a private moment, but she couldn't help herself, she wanted to hear him sing. She leaned her frame against the back wall, watching and listening to him as he sung. The song, obviously an original, only made him more endearing, as it was clearly for his son. She smiled as his voice trailed off and he scribbled something onto a sheet of paper. It was clearly the time to come forward, last thing she wanted was to look like a crazed stalker watching him from the shadows.
She stepped forward towards the stage, clapping lightly, a smile on her face. “ That was amazing Gage. She said as she came to edge of the stage, looking up at him “ I'm sorry, I don't mean to intrude, I was just passing by and heard you in here.”

Gage looked up at the shady figure that was clapping. Then he heard her voice as she came into the light. His eyes studied her for a moment. He was kind of at a loss of words. He'd never sang his own stuff for people to hear. Sure he'd sang But it was always other peoples music. He felt more exposed now that someone has heard what he has written. More naked he supposed. A side of him no one knew was there. It was a more serious side, definitely not the happy go lucky, enthusiastic side everyone saw. And here Riley was .. listening to him sing his music.
He swallowed some. He wasn't sure what to say. He had been taken by surprise. "Ahh" That was all the seemed to come out. He hadn't formed a single complete sentence. In this lighting she was beautiful. Well she was beautiful everywhere. He looked down and laughed a little at his lack of words to her. His hands moved a little so he didn't accidently make unwanted noise on the guitar.

Riley smiled meekly, that feeling of guilt returning full force when she saw his obvious discomfort. She nervously tucked her hair behind her ears and cleared her throat. She probably should have said something as soon as she walked in, now this was awkward. But he'd looked and sounded so good up there on stage, she'd had a hard time taking her eyes off him. She quickly darted her eyes to the side, realizing she was still just staring up at him. Another note, he should not be allowed to carry a guitar, men with guitars were almost universally sexy, and Gage playing one was almost too much. She felt her cheeks heat up and once again, was thankful that the poor lighting would hide her blush.
“ So sorry, again, for barging in, I really didn't mean to interrupt... but you have an amazing voice, and that was a beautiful song. So, I am kind of glad I did.{/color] She said, trying to force her own awkwardness away with a smile.

Gage swallowed some. Her words about how good he sounded and how good the song was made him smile a little. "Ah .. I've never sang it for someone before. Its not really finished yet. Usually I have somewhere more ah .. private to write but .. I have a roommate now." He swallowed some looking over to her. She really did look beautiful. Maybe it was what she was wearing. Or maybe it was just her.
He put the guitar down and hopped off the stage so now he was standing close to her. Things seemed really awkward between them at the moment. It wasn't really flowing like it had the other night. He had this little voice in his head repeatedly saying kiss her. He stepped closer letting his lips softly touch hers. He hoped this wouldn't earn him a slap in the face or anything. It made him nervous to be kissing her like this. They hadn't known each other long, but maybe now he was starting to listen to his mother. After a moment he pulled back silently. His gentle eyes looked to her.

Riley looked at him as he spoke, ready to apologize again. She was feeling pretty stupid, just barging into the auditorium like that, and the more she thought about it, the more she was berating herself for not speaking up sooner. She interrupted a private moment, and she hoped he wouldn’t hold it against her. Her eyes followed him as he got off the stage, surprised at how close he was standing to her. She looked up into his eyes, and her stomach erupted into butterflies. Apiece of his short blonde hair was curled, stuck against his forehead, going against the grain of the rest of his hair. Riley was struck with the urge to lift her hand up and move it into place, but curled her hands into themselves to resist the desire. That would be weird, and she was sure he already thought she was a bit of a nut case. It hadn’t been quiet that long, but to Riley it felt like ages. She began to open her mouth, to apologize one more time, hopefully that would be enough to get rid of the oddly tense atmosphere and back to chatting like they had the last time they met. Instead of words, her lips were unexpectedly occupied by Gage’s. He was kissing her, his lips pressed softly against hers, and though her brain was having a hard time making sense of the situation, she was oddly elated by it. He pulled away from her, and her lips instantly felt cold, and her first thought was that she wasn’t ready for the kiss to be done, before her mind went back to a shocked confused state. He looked at her with his soft blue eyes, and all she could do was blink. She lifted her fingers up, gently placing them on her lips, surprised they didn’t actually feel cold to the touch. She should probably say something, he was just watching her with those pale eyes of his, waiting. “ Ohh..” she said, less than eloquently, it was her turn to be at a loss for words.

Gage watched Riley silently. He was trying not to second guess himself or his decision to kiss her. It was a good kiss. He liked it, he wondered if she had too. But now she was the one who couldn't form a sentence. His heart was racing. Kissing her only made him want to do it again. Would she even want another? Maybe it wasn't good for her. He shoved those thoughts aside. No one ever got any where by second guessing themselves he had to be firm on the ground he was standing on.
His hands moved together a little nervously. "Soo .. Ok that might have been moving to fast. Um ... Would you do me the honor of .. Going on a date with me?" He knew he had to be a man and ask her on a date if he wanted one. And he did. He wasn't going to hurt her. At least not on purpose. But from their conversation the other day he thought he'd like a date with her. He thought he'd like a relationship with her as well. But he'd start with a date. So he gave her a smile to go with his question

Riley listened to him as he spoke, but her brain wasn't actually processing the words. All she could really do was look at his lips. The kiss, as unexpected as it was, knocked her down entirely. She didn't know why he'd kissed her, or what it was supposed to mean. What she did know for sure though, was that she definitely wanted to kiss him again. Her heart hadn't raced this fast in ages, nor had she been so easily distracted by a man. Heck, even with Charles she hadn't been as easily swayed by his eyes.
It dawned on her that not only was he speaking, he was asking a question. She forced herself back to the present and tore her eyes from his mouth. Her smile started small and grew. He was asking her out. Like on a date. Riley couldn't even remember the last time she was out on a date. She wasn't even sure she remembered how dates were supposed to go. But she would gladly find out with Gage. “ Well, you may have gotten the order a bit mixed up. The kiss usually comes after the date. But I'm not going to complain... and I would love to go on a date with you” She said, finding her voice again.

Gage watched her for the moment it was quiet before she spoke. Then he heard her words. He let out a small laugh when she said he had the order mixed up. Maybe that was true, but it was well worth it to feel her lips pressed against his. But his smile grew further when she said she'd like to go on a date. Success. Usually this is where the guy nods, tells the girl a time he'll pick her up and then leaves and does an embarrassing dance for getting the girl to say yes.
But Gage was to cool to go do any of that. Instead he stepped in and kissed her again. It was like giving her a preview of what a date would be like, or atleast the ending to the date anyways. After a few more moments passed he pulled away again. "I never much cared to do things in order. Must be what gets me in trouble." He smiled once again. He liked the thought of going on a date with her. It was exciting to him. "What's good around here to eat?" he hadn't been out of the school walls much since he got here. At least not to eat anything.

Riley's breath caught when he leaned in and kissed her again, sending her already racing heart into overdrive. It took all of her self control not to just fling herself on him and make out with him like a pair of hormone crazed teenagers. She contented herself with stepping into him when he kissed her, to feel his body against hers. When he pulled away, she let out a tiny little sigh. On one hand, she felt ridiculous, being so affected by just a couple of kisses. On the other hand, she didn't care, it felt wonderful and she for one, couldn't wait to do it again.
She laughed a little at his comment before pursing her lips slightly, wishing she'd left the school more so she had a better idea of what was around. “ You know, to be honest, I've only ever been to one restaurant in town. It was a generic Italian place, but it wasn't bad. she said with a smile, happy that her voice didn't come out as breathless as she felt.

Gage liked how close her body was to his. It showed a lot of restraint that he wasn't making out with her and undressing her with as close as they were. But he could wait if that's what it took. His eyes looked to hers while he smiled at her. His hands had found their way to her arms and that's where they sat now. He couldn't wait to go on a date with her. To see her out side of this place for a little bit. Not that seeing her here and in action with the students wasn't amazing.
He'd seen her the other day teaching when her door was somewhat open. He didn't know if she'd seen him watching. He was almost sure she didn't but then again he could be wrong. And he'd gotten to know just a little bit of who she was just by watching her teach. "I'd be up for Italian if you like it I'll give the place a shot" Anything to please the girl. He thought they would be good together. He could show her how sweet a real guy could be to a woman and she could teach him all the things she knows. He thought she was really smart. Maybe even to smart to be with him.

Part of Riley was wishing that he would stop resting his hands on her arms, his skin felt so hot against hers, and it was making concentrating hard. She couldn't help but think that it had been too long since the last time she was touched at all by a man, it was making her feel like acting totally irrational. As she looked up into his gentle eyes and smiling face, she was struck with the thought that maybe it was actually just down to this particular man. She'd been hit on since Charles, and frankly, she hadn't really cared, she had felt nothing . But this was different. He seemed different. So kind, and sweet, and she couldn't forget, gorgeous. She smiled, she was already looking forward to the date, who knows, maybe nothing would come from it, but she hoped it would be good and maybe it would lead to a second, and third, and- She stopped herself mid thought, reminding herself again not to get too carried away.
“I'm definitely up for it.” she nodded, “ Italian is always good. Well, ok, no, sometimes it's bad, but that's rare, so it should be at the very least a mediocre dinner.. she trailed off, realizing she was babbling a bit uselessly. “ Sorry, sometimes I just start to talk to much, at lest my sister's used to tell me that.” she chuckled, it was her curse, her inability to be flirty, which was of course what she had been trying to go for. Then again, did she really need to be flirty? He had already kissed her, she wasn't trying to snare him, which is what flirting was for. She looked up at him, her eyes focusing again on his lips. Maybe she should just take some initiative, and kiss him again. Lord knows she wanted too. Besides, that seemed like a good way to solidify the date plans. “Sealed with a kiss” wouldn't be a saying if people didn't do it. She bit her lip, nervous. Just do it, who cares, he clearly liked kissing you the little voice in her head prodded. Riley decided to just listen to the voice, putting her hands on his neck as she leaned up and pressed her lips to his again, relaxing against the feel of him. Kissing was just nice, she'd forgotten about how good it could feel.

Gage smiled hearing she was up for it. His eyes just watched her while she spoke. He liked hearing her voice, and the thoughts that she had. He wondered how many dates they would go on. Or if this date wold be their only. He sure hoped it wasn't. This date hadn't passed yet but he was already looking forward to the second one. And the third and fourth. And his mind go wonder and go on all day, but then he wouldn't have time for anything else.
Then he felt her lips touch his. She was kissing him this time. That made him jump up and down on the inside. Ok so sure he was a dork. One of those nerdy guys who jumped up and down after scoring a date with a pretty girl. But he was doing good at holding it all in and keeping his cool. And of course he couldn't help but kiss back. What kind of jerk would kiss a girl, but when the girl kissed him not kiss back? No need for mind games. He totally liked and wanted to kiss her.

Riley smiled against his lips, feeling him begin to kiss her back. She dropped her hands from his neck, looping her arms over his shoulders instead, leaning into him. She really did just like the feel of someone against her again. He felt so solid, and warm, she'd not really realized how much she'd missed this. Her fingers lightly brushed the blonde curls at the back of his neck where her hands were resting. After a moment, she slowly pulled away, dropping her arms to the side as she stepped back.
She smiled up at Gage, breathing in deeply, left a little breathless from this kiss as well. God, he smelled good. She couldn't quite place the scent, but it was crisp and clean, and distinctly manly. “ Should probably save something for the actual date, huh?” she said with a small nervous laugh. “ I'm sorry, I couldn't quite help it though, I kinda like kissing you.” as the words parted her lips, she felt her cheeks flare up in embarrassment. She needed to remember to keep somethings to herself, she didn't want to freak him out.

The way she kissed Gage made him want to move his hands from her arms to under her shirt. He like the feeling of her fingers touching his hair. There was a time in his life he'd hated the way his hair curled, but he came to find that women like that. So he stopped shaving it and let it do what it wanted. And always felt good to feel someones fingers in your hair. That's how he thought. And the way it felt to have her body against his was good. A feeling he'd missed. He hadn't dated since Jane. He always thought he was supposed to be with her. But he knew it was never gonna happen and moving on to something else was what he needed. And Riley was so much better then her. In his opinion she was anyway.
Then she was backing away which was probably a good thing cause if they weren't careful they most likely wouldn't make it to the actual date. But he smiled and laughed a little at her words. Maybe she was right. They needed to save something for the date. "I kinda like kissing you too" He smiled. Ok so that wasn't the whole truth. He really really liked kissing her. Not just kinda but alot.
